Shadeena won the Award for Creativity at the Malta Innovation Awards ceremony held recently. This was given for Shadeena’s Strait street augmented reality experience proposal, The Strait Street Memory Map.
This is a project that combines historical research, an artistic catalogue and the basic human need of storytelling, with augmented reality technology that is present in most modern smartphones. This will be Shadeena’s second public augmented reality project following Un/Seen Evergreen in St George’s Square Valletta, now live on Google Play.
The Memory Map will enable users to have a glimpse at Strait Street’s past, present and future while they walk through it. They will be able to view images, listen to sounds, read poetry and literature, tweets and videos, seeing how elements from different eras interact and complement one another.

After the award, Martin reacted, “Thanks to all that support this little company and our crazy ideas. On behalf of the whole team at Shadeena, I’d like to thank the Commerce Department and the Ministry for Economy, Investment and Small Enterprises for this award”.
